The 5th New York Volunteers, was one of the most decorated and respected units of the American Civil War. They were known as "Duryea's Zouave's" and were easily identified by their distinctive uniforms.
They stood at the “Vortex of Hell”
and came through. They were counted on to do the dirty work because they could. They were the pride of New York and the
Pride of the Army of the Potomac. Red Legged Devils follows the boys who became men in Company F through the bloodiest war in American history.
